Der Bau
Zwei Wörter, und sonst ändert sich nichts:
I will finish it. He will finish it. They will finish it.
I’ll, you’ll, he’ll, we’ll, they’ll.
- Angebote und Vorschläge mit I und we: Shall I open the window? / Shall we go?
- formelle Regeln und Verträge: The tenant shall maintain the property.
Überall sonst ist will die gewöhnliche Wahl.
Probably, certainly, I think
It’ll probably be late. I think they’ll agree. She’ll definitely come.
Beachte, wo probably steht: hinter will, vor dem Verb.
Versprechen und Angebote
In der ersten Person tut will seine kennzeichnendste Arbeit:
I*’ll** pay you back on Friday. I**’ll** carry that for you.*
Im amerikanischen Englisch hört man dafür eher Should I…? oder Do you want me to…?
«wahrscheinlich» steht an derselben Stelle. «Es wird wahrscheinlich spät» → It’ll probably be late.
I’ll help you ist richtig, I help you heißt «ich helfe dir gewöhnlich».

Falsch: I will to help you. richtig: I will help you.
Kein to nach will.
Falsch: Tomorrow it will raining. richtig: Tomorrow it will rain.
Will nimmt die Grundform. Für eine laufende Handlung bräuchtest du will be raining.
