Mustn't verbietet. Don't have to sagt, dass es nicht nötig ist. Das ist nicht dasselbe.

Der Unterschied, klar gesagt
- mustn’t = es gibt eine Regel dagegen. You mustn’t park on the crossing.
- don’t have to = es gibt in keiner Richtung eine Regel. You don’t have to wear a tie.
Eine schnelle Probe: wenn du if you like anhängen könntest, braucht der Satz don’t have to.
You shouldn’t drive when you’re this tired.
We weren’t allowed to leave the building.
Didn’t have to ist die Vergangenheit von don’t have to:
We didn’t have to pay — it was included.
needn’t
Needn’t bedeutet dasselbe wie don’t have to und ist im britischen Englisch häufiger:
You needn’t wait.
You mustn’t verbietet im Englischen.
«Sie muss sonntags nicht arbeiten» → She doesn’t have to work on Sundays.
«Wir durften das Gebäude nicht verlassen» → We weren’t allowed to leave the building.
