Dos preguntas
¿Cuántos? Uno lleva this o that; más de uno lleva these o those.
¿A qué distancia? Cerca lleva this o these; lejos lleva that o those.
- that summer — otro verano, más lejano
- these days — ahora
- those days — entonces
Por teléfono
Una convención fija que conviene saber:
Hello, this is Anna. — presentarse Is that Tom?
I’ll take this. Those are mine. What is that?
The train was canceled. That explains why he was late.
This/these y that/those cambian por singular y plural, pero no por género: no hay this masculino ni femenino.
Y el teléfono. «Soy Ana» es This is Anna, no I am Anna: es una fórmula fija y conviene aprenderla como tal.
