La regla de posición
Tres casos, y cubren todo:
- delante del verbo principal: She often forgets.
- detrás del verbo to be: She is often late.
- entre el auxiliar y el verbo principal: She has often been late. I will never forget.
Sometimes I walk to work. / I walk to work sometimes.
Always y never no pueden. Never I go y I go always están los dos mal.
never ya es negativo
No se le añade una segunda negación:
I never eat meat. ✓ I don’t never eat meat. ✗
twice a week, every morning, three times a month, once in a while
I go to the gym three times a week.
Preguntar
How often do you…? lleva el patrón con do, porque son verbos normales:
How often do you travel? — Twice a year.
Y con to be se invierte: I am always late.
La doble negación. «No voy nunca» → I never go, con una sola negación.
