La estructura
Presente detrás de if, will en el resultado:
If the shop is closed, we*’ll** go to the market.*
Las dos mitades hablan del futuro. Solo la segunda lo muestra.
Detrás de when, as soon as, until, before
I’ll call you when I arrive. — no when I will arrive. Wait here until he comes. We’ll leave as soon as you’re ready.
- If you ask him, he might say yes. — menos seguro
- If you’re passing, come in. — una invitación
- If it rains, we can eat inside. — una opción
- If you want to catch it, you should leave now. — un consejo
unless
Unless sustituye a if not:
We’ll be late unless we leave now. = if we don’t leave now.
Amenazas y promesas
If you touch that, you*’ll** regret it.* If you finish by five, I*’ll** buy dinner.*

Incorrecto: If it will rain, we will stay in. correcto: If it rains, we will stay in.
Will pertenece solo a la oración principal.
Incorrecto: If I will see her, I'll tell her. correcto: If I see her, I'll tell her.
Incorrecto: If you don't hurry, you missed the train. correcto: If you don't hurry, you'll miss the train.
