La estructura
Not va entre will y be, y se contrae en won’t be:
They will not be working. → They won’t be working.
Decir que no sin negarse
El negativo es una manera suave de decir que no, porque cuenta un hecho en lugar de una decisión:
I won’t be joining you for lunch. — simplemente no estaré.
Compáralo con I won’t join you, que suena a negativa.
Avisar de la disponibilidad
El uso más corriente del día a día:
- The office won’t be opening until ten on Monday.
- I won’t be answering emails while I’m away.
Los verbos de estado, otra vez
Para un estado, el future simple:
We won’t know until Thursday. — no won’t be knowing.
Dónde se tuerce para un hispanohablante
«No voy a comer con vosotros» admite las dos lecturas en español: puede ser un hecho o una negativa. En inglés las separa el tiempo: I won’t be joining you es un hecho, I won’t join you es una negativa. Conviene elegir a propósito.
