El orden habitual
Cinco huecos: palabra interrogativa — be — sujeto — going to — verbo simple.
How are you going to get there?
La forma de be concuerda con el sujeto que viene detrás: Where is the meeting going to be? pero Where are the guests going to sit?
Cuando who es el sujeto
No se intercambia nada, y going to viene justo detrás:
- Who is going to pay?
- What is going to happen?
La segunda es una de las preguntas más frecuentes del idioma, y lleva siempre is, nunca are.
How are we going to
Una pregunta sobre el método, normalmente con un problema detrás:
The lift is broken. How are we going to get the piano upstairs?
Why are you going to
Pide el razonamiento de una decisión ya tomada. Compáralo con Why will you…, que suena más a reproche que a pregunta.
Dónde se tuerce para un hispanohablante
«¿Qué vas a hacer?» se calca como What you are going to do? y falta el intercambio: be tiene que pasar delante del sujeto.
Y What is going to happen? lleva is aunque la respuesta sea plural: «¿qué va a pasar?» no da ninguna pista de número, y en inglés el sujeto es what, singular.

Errores que evitar
Incorrecto: What you are going to do? correcto: What are you going to do?
Be va delante del sujeto.
Incorrecto: Who is he going to drive? correcto: Who is going to drive?
Cuando who es quien conduce, no hay un segundo sujeto.
