La estructura
Se intercambian will y el sujeto:
You will be there. → Will you be there?
Las respuestas cortas repiten will
Will it rain? — Yes, it will. / No, it won’t.
Peticiones
Will you close the door? es una petición más que una pregunta sobre el futuro. Es directa; Would you close the door? y Could you… son más suaves, y son las que usarías con un desconocido.
Ofrecimientos y propuestas con shall
Para algo que ofreces hacer, o que propones hacer juntos, shall es la forma tradicional y sigue siendo común en Gran Bretaña:
- Shall I carry that?
- Shall we start?
Should I… y Do you want me to… hacen lo mismo y son más comunes en inglés americano.
Preguntar por un plan
Si el plan ya está hecho, la pregunta pasa a going to o al present continuous:
Are you going to take the job? / Are you taking the job?
Will you take the job? pide una decisión ahora.
Dónde se tuerce para un hispanohablante
«¿Me ayudas?» y «¿Te importa cerrar la puerta?» son peticiones, y en inglés se hacen con Will you…? o, más suave, Could you…? Traducirlas con el presente (Do you help me?) cambia el sentido: suena a pregunta sobre una costumbre.
Y ojo con shall: «¿Vamos?» es Shall we go?, no Will we go?, que suena a predicción sobre si el viaje ocurrirá.

Errores que evitar
Incorrecto: Do you will come? correcto: Will you come?
Will hace su propia pregunta. No se añade do.
Incorrecto: Will she comes? correcto: Will she come?
