La estructura
Not se mete detrás del primer auxiliar:
She has not been sleeping. → She hasn’t been sleeping.
El orden no varía nunca: have o has, not, been, -ing.
Not for long, not since
- They haven’t been living here long.
- It hasn’t been raining since Tuesday.
I haven’t been avoiding you — I*’ve been** away.*
I haven’t read it. — no lo he empezado o no lo he terminado. I haven’t been reading it. — últimamente no le dedico tiempo.
Dónde se tuerce para un hispanohablante
«No llevamos mucho esperando» es We haven’t been waiting long, sin since: «desde hace mucho» no se traduce con since long, que no existe.
Y «no hace mucho que vivimos aquí» invierte el orden: We haven’t been living here long.

Errores que evitar
Incorrecto: She doesn't have been working. correcto: She hasn't been working.
El tiempo forma su propio negativo. Do y does no aparecen en él.
Incorrecto: I haven't been knowing about it. correcto: I haven't known about it.
Incorrecto: We haven't been waiting since long. correcto: We haven't been waiting long.
Aquí long va solo.
