The usual order
Five slots: question word — will — subject — be — the -ing form.
How long will you be staying?
When who is the subject
Nothing swaps:
- Who will be meeting us at the airport?
- What will be happening on the main stage?
The neutral enquiry, with a question word
Just as with yes/no questions, the Continuous version asks rather than requests:
- When will you be leaving? — what time does it work out at?
- When will you leave? — when have you decided to go?
The first is what a receptionist asks; the second is what an impatient host asks.
How long will you be
A fixed phrase meaning how much longer do you need:
How long will you be? — answered with Two minutes.
