A mesma regra do comparativo
Palavras curtas levam -est, palavras longas levam the most, e os irregulares são os mesmos quatro:
good → the best, bad → the worst, far → the furthest, little → the least
the fastest route, the most expensive option
Um possessivo pode substituí-lo: my best friend, his worst mistake.
- in: the tallest building in the city
- of: the best of the three
- uma oração relativa: the worst film I have ever seen
Esse último padrão leva sempre o present perfect: the best meal I have ever had.
one of the
It is one of the oldest buildings in Europe. — e não one of the oldest building.
Todas as formas
| Adjetivo | Comparativo | Superlativo |
|---|---|---|
| tall | taller | the tallest |
| big | bigger | the biggest |
| happy | happier | the happiest |
| useful | more useful | the most useful |
| good | better | the best |
| bad | worse | the worst |
| far | further | the furthest |
