A regra do lugar
Três casos, e eles cobrem tudo:
- antes do verbo principal: She often forgets.
- depois do verbo to be: She is often late.
- entre o auxiliar e o verbo principal: She has often been late. I will never forget.
Sometimes I walk to work. / I walk to work sometimes.
Always e never não podem. Never I go e I go always estão os dois errados.
never já é negativo
Não acrescente uma segunda negação:
I never eat meat. ✓ I don’t never eat meat. ✗
twice a week, every morning, three times a month, once in a while
I go to the gym three times a week.
Perguntando
How often do you…? leva o padrão com do, porque são verbos comuns:
How often do you travel? — Twice a year.
