Passiva no presente: frases negativas

Not vem depois de is ou are, antes do particípio passado.

O particípio passado é a terceira forma das tabelas de verbos: written, gone, built. Ele nunca muda com o sujeito.

O padrão

Not entra entre o auxiliar e o particípio passado:

The gate is not locked. → The gate isn’t locked.

As duas contrações existem no plural: aren’t e ’re not, como em they’re not kept.

Dizendo o que não acontece

A passiva negativa no presente é a linguagem das exceções em regulamentos e avisos:

• Bags aren’t searched on the ground floor.
• Cash isn’t accepted at this counter.
• Late applications aren’t considered.

no longer, any more

Os dois caem naturalmente e são comuns neste tempo:

Paper records are no longer kept. The hall isn’t rented out any more.

Escolhendo o auxiliar certo

Se a frase tem um particípio passado, a negativa é isn’t ou aren’t. Se o verbo está na forma base, a negativa é doesn’t ou don’t:

• The office isn’t cleaned on Sundays. — passiva
• The cleaner doesn’t come on Sundays. — ativa
