O padrão

A afirmativa vira pergunta trocando os dois primeiros elementos de lugar:

The film was good. → Was the film good?

As respostas curtas ficam com o verbo

Were you at the concert? — Yes, I was. / No, I wasn’t.

A resposta curta afirmativa nunca se contrai.

De qual padrão esta frase precisa

Encontre o verbo principal da afirmativa:

• She was tired. → Was she tired?
• She slept badly. → Did she sleep badly?

Se o verbo é be, troque de lugar. Se é qualquer outro, chame did.

A pergunta no fim

O mesmo verbo volta no fim para transformar a afirmativa numa conferência:

• It was your idea, wasn’t it?
• They weren’t invited, were they?

O português resolve tudo com «não é?» e «não foi?», que não acompanham a frase — o inglês acompanha.
