Sua primeira pergunta está vindo.
A grade
Levam verbo no singular
Everybody is waiting. Nothing works. Somebody has left a bag.
Somebody called — they didn’t leave a name. Everyone should bring their own lunch.
some- ou any-
A mesma divisão dos substantivos:
- some- em afirmativas: There is somebody at the door.
- any- em negativas e perguntas: There isn’t anybody. Is there anybody there?
Em ofertas e pedidos, some- volta: Would you like something to drink?
no- e not any
Dizem a mesma coisa com gramáticas diferentes:
There is nothing left. = There isn’t anything left.
Use uma ou a outra. There isn’t nothing não é inglês padrão.
something useful, nothing new, somebody important
Aqui o português é o guia certo: «algo útil», «nada novo» — a mesma ordem.

Erros a evitar
Errado: Everybody are here. certo: Everybody is here.
Errado: I didn't see nobody. certo: I didn't see anybody.
O inglês não usa duas negações. Com verbo negativo, use any-.
Errado: Somebody forgot his or her coat. certo: Somebody forgot their coat.
They e their são a maneira normal de retomar quando a pessoa é desconhecida.
