Короткие слова берут -est, длинные — the most, а неправильных всё те же четыре:
good → the best, bad → the worst, far → the furthest, little → the least
Зачем the
Превосходная степень указывает на один определённый предмет, поэтому ей нужен определённый артикль:
the fastest route, the most expensive option
Его может заменить притяжательное: my best friend, his worst mistake.
Как назвать ряд
Ряд, с которым сравнивают, обычно идёт следом:
- in: the tallest building in the city
- of: the best of the three
- придаточное: the worst film I have ever seen
Последняя схема всегда берёт present perfect: the best meal I have ever had.

За ним идёт множественное число, и это удивляет:
It is one of the oldest buildings in Europe. — а не one of the oldest building.
Две формы far
Further и farther обе годятся для расстояния. Для отвлечённого годится только further:
ten miles further / farther — обе в порядке further information — только эта

Превосходная степень обычно берёт the.
Неверно: It is the most easiest. верно: It is the easiest.
Сочетать the most с формой на -est нельзя никогда.
Неверно: the most tall building верно: the tallest building
В tall один слог, значит -est.
